Data, services & offerings descriptions#
Part of the LDT Governance and Trust Framework — instantiates the iSHARE Data Space Template block Data, services & offerings descriptions (© iSHARE Foundation, see Legal notices).
Purpose#
Standardised, policy-aware, machine-readable descriptions of everything offered in the data space — the metadata layer that makes offerings findable and trustworthy.
LDT instantiation — where we stand#
- Baseline metadata: DCAT-AP (v3) profiles combined with iSHARE/Gaia-X self-descriptions; JSON-LD; SHACL validation.
- Policy-aware: every description embeds its ODRL usage policy and licence reference — policy metadata is mandatory in the LDT, not optional.
- Green-Deal descriptors: CO₂ footprint / emission-method descriptors extend the baseline where relevant (LogiNex methodology).
- FAIR: persistent identifiers for offerings; minimal mandatory field set to be fixed here.
Replication kit (PD4 §7)#
The elements that make this portable are: open standards throughout (OAuth 2.0 machine-to-machine, OpenID4VC, SD-JWT VC on the eIDAS 2.0 line, ITB-S conformance evidence); standards-anchored data models (PD4 section 4); reusable legal instruments (accession and model agreements, licence catalogue); a replication kit for new cities (template instance, gateway, conformance and onboarding); and a trust model — admit once, trust by presentation — that adds trust to existing digital twins without imposing a shared platform, database or identity provider.
Scaling to new participants requires no governance change: admission, adherence and credential issuance are the same procedure for the first participant and the thousandth.

🧩 Building block requested — Owner: Nunsys + LogiNex + iLabs#
What we need: the LDT metadata profile: mandatory DCAT-AP fields, the ODRL/licence embedding rule, SHACL shapes for validation, and the Green-Deal descriptor extension (LogiNex: CO₂ fields + method reference).

Guiding questions#
All 22 of the template's questions for this block, with the 5
LDT answerslots to fill, are on data-services-and-offerings-descriptions/guiding-questions.md. The digest below is the subset that most shapes this block.
- Which metadata standards serve as baseline and should they be extended with Green-Deal descriptors (CO₂ footprint, energy efficiency)?
- Which usage-policy categories (open, restricted, commercial, research-only) are standardised, and is policy metadata mandatory universally?
- Which formats/APIs are enforced for machine-readability; are JSON-LD and SHACL validation employed; which fields are minimally mandatory?
